Will joined Gordons Partnership in July 2017 and qualified into the Healthcare team in March 2022.

Will assists the Partners in the Healthcare team with complex clinical negligence claims brought against medical professionals. He also has experience of claims involving data protection, defamation and Judicial Review of decisions by Healthcare bodies.

Outside work, Will enjoys playing the electric guitar, much to the chagrin of his neighbours (and wife). He also enjoys quizzes, and has frequently been a member of the winning team of the Surrey Law Society Quiz.

Expertise:

Will has experience in defending clinical negligence claims involving cauda equina syndrome, diabetic foot amputation, stroke, cancer, meningitis and nerve damage. He has assisted the partners with high value, complex cases and also regularly supports his own clients in areas as diverse as dental negligence, data protection and defamation. He understands the stresses and anxieties that a claim can cause for the professionals involved and works to bring cases to a satisfactory conclusion as quickly and cost effectively as possible, supporting his clients throughout with clear and effective advice.

  • Securing the discontinuance of a high value claim against a vascular surgeon for alleged nerve damage following open mesh surgery.
  • Successfully striking out a claim against a GP for alleged defamation/breach of the Data Protection Act at the proceedings stage.
  • Securing a discontinuance in respect of a Judicial Review of a GP Practice's decision to remove a patient from their list.
  • Assisting in the successful defence at Trial in the High Court of a multi-million pound claim against a psychiatrist for alleged failure to prevent the death of a client by suicide.
  • Assisting in securing the discontinuance of a high value claim against a gynaecologist for alleged failure to diagnose and treat ovarian cancer.
  • Successfully defending a GP Practice at Trial against a claim for alleged breach of the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), and successfully resisting the Claimant's subsequent appeal of the Judgement.
  • Assisting in securing the discontinuance of a contribution claim against a spinal surgeon arising out of a claim for permanent neuropathic pain following a spinal operation.
  • Assisting in the successful defence at Trial in the High Court of a £40 million claim for loss of earnings against a GP Practice following a diabetic foot amputation.
