Hamish studied Law at University, as he says, ‘between sporting and social engagements’. His easy going demeanour belies his competitiveness. He captained the British Universities at cricket and holds an English National Cup winner’s medal at hockey. On settling down to a career, Hamish trained and worked as a commercial property lawyer in the City for eight years before moving to head up the Property Law section of Thames Water in the aftermath of privatisation in the early 1990s.

In 1996, Hamish established his own practice in Guildford which merged with Gordons in 1998. He is now the managing partner of Gordons, based principally in our Guildford office. As well as running the Firm, Hamish has a broad property practice dealing with both commercial and residential property. His work includes assisting businesses establish property bases in the UK, acting on the disposal of multi-million pound commercial and residential auction portfolios and helping numerous sports clubs, small businesses and individuals with their property requirements.

Hamish is an accomplished negotiator and uses his disarming humour to good effect. He has a reputation for unlocking difficult transactions and his skills are often sought by clients to smooth the way in challenging projects.
